What your card really charges abroad

Most bank cards add 1.5 to 3% when you pay in another currency. That foreign transaction fee comes on top of the exchange rate, so you pay more than a currency converter shows. Tell QuickFX Pro your card's fee and it does the sum for you. You see what you'll really pay before you tap your card.

How to work out your card fee abroad

  1. Open Settings in QuickFX and set Card fee to the percentage your card adds, for example 2.75%.
  2. Convert an amount as usual, or point the camera at a menu or a price tag.
  3. Read the result. In the converter, the converted amount stays as it is and a line below it shows the same amount with your fee added. Scanned prices already include the fee, and the currency button at the top shows it (+2.75%).

Where the fee shows up

In the converter. Type an amount in either box. The other box shows the conversion at the current rate, and the line underneath gives the total with your card fee.

On scanned prices. Point the camera at a menu or price tag and every price is converted right where it's printed, with your fee added. The price scanner is part of QuickFX Pro too. On iPhone the reading happens on the phone, so it works without a connection. On Android it needs a connection once to set up.
